Naval & Military Volunteers
All,
Would appreciate any information on this badge, or the body to whom it refers / belongs. It is 55mm wide, 56mm tall, slidered, well patinated bronze and die struck. Apologies for the quality of the picture! Thanks, and best regards, Tim |

Commonwealth
There were lots of smaller veterans organizations that eventually got folded into larger ones that eventually became the British Legion, the Canadian Legion of the British Empire Service League etc, so your badge is likely one made by one of those outfits. Many years ago the Navy was the Navy of course but "The Military" as a term did not apply to the Navy. The Military meant the army and all it's component parts so I think your badge would date from the Great War or earlier. There's nothing to say it couldn't be from the Boer War era, though you might expect to see a Victorian crown on it. Still, Victoria ended about the same time the Boer War did so if they used the new sovereign's crown it could have been for personnel of that era.
Good luck narrowing it down. |

Thanks, Sock Monkey.
Good information, well received! There were also a number of VTC's (or their predecessors) based around veterans, and with "Veterans" in their titles, which is why I acquired this badge. The search goes on... Best regards, Tim |
