The letters are very close together, the ‘&’ is definitely closer to S of MARPLES, the 3 horizontal lines of the 2nd E increase in length, ‘P’ above ‘B’ and ‘M’ above ‘S’ etc.
Leaving aside the originality of the badge, about which there is debate, I think the slider has been stamped with the second pattern mark which I now believe is a fake. I'm not convinced it's been re-slidered. I have several examples of this badge with the same die marks but only one has the M&B stamp.
