Default Intelligence Corps

Hi all,

I bought 2 intelligence corps badges whilst at Yate the other weekend.

The collar looks to be an officers QC variety but minus scroll and the badge appears to be a genuine KC soldiers version but in white metal (crown is not pierced). I'm really not sure about either.

Does anyone have an ideas?

Many thanks

The OR's badge looks to be chromed rather than made of white metal?

The collar badge without scroll. I have an example of this (attached) - obtained from a fellow officer of the Corps who told me that the two (now one) in his possession came - without scrolls - on the lapels of his mess kit when it arrived from the Corps' nominated tailor. He assumed they were correct (as one would) until corrected by a more senior officer at the first formal dinner night he attended after commissioning. He replaced them, but kept the "manufacture's error".

It could well be chromed. I've taken a nail file to a small section of the back of the slider and it's still white metal.

I suppose white metal or chrome what was it's purpose?

Many thanks Mike. I know that I've never seen anyone wearing one but I wasn't sure whether it was an early design, way before my time lol

It's yet another fragment of what passes for "history" in the Int Corps!
