And who would these be for? SFSG does not have either OCdts or full Colonels.

If I remember correctly the late Richard Pickup was a full colonel when he was i/c SFSG in Afghanistan. If he wasn't he was demoted, becuase he was a full colonel when I worked with him in Kosovo the previous year.
That said, I agree that they're duff... |

For wider awareness on promotion to full Colonel the officer becomes a member of the General Staff and all insignia is GS. There are exceptions such as ACF Commandants who wear full Colonel rank but are ACF officers rather than GS so remain badged to the ACF. Honorary positions such a Regimental Colonels are the same.
The compulsory wearing of the blue GS stable belt and GS blue beret has slipped since Nick Carter retired and regimental headdress with the GS cap badge and webbing belts are being worn again. |
