I've no idea why I still have that Marsh one rather than returned it if I wrote it was sus repro at the same time I "logged" it. Presumably I wasn't that confident it was a duff one.
Unless I simply stuck a note on it re. when I got etc and catalogued it later. |

I have never encountered a single die struck example with an acceptable provenance and I doubt if I ever will, ebay is awash with so very many.

Die struck ones are 2 a penny as a new die was faked in the 1970s. I would only ever have a die cast one in my collection.
Post 24 above is worth a comparison. |

2 a penny
Alan ,
Not sure if I agree with 2 a penny of this strike , this is 1 of three I have only seen . Yes the marsh examples are 2 a penny , Die cast I suspect are officers Thanks Tony C |

The officers ones were indeed diecast but with blades and were worn for a long time before the ORs briefly wore then circa 1920.

Here are 4 from my collection, 2 ORs , one with Gaunt on slider and 2 officers, one with Gaunt on back but different dies. I was always quite happy with these but would appreciate your opinions please. Many thanks. Denis

Denis
That's a really unusual Gaunt mark and is likely to be inter war rather that 40's 50's when the straight mark was used (small then large) The use of the mark that early on also suggests that it was a private order from the regiment and not one provided by the ACD. Alan |

So are these considered to be original?

In my opinion they are correct for the 1920's period.
