Army Air Corps?
Are either or both of these cloth signs older verions of AAC flashes? The large one is 75mm square, the small one 60mm. I know that the 9th Regt AAC uses a merrowed-edged woven sign virtually identical to the large one, but wonder if they had an older version made of stitched together felt. This was the case, for example, with the Royal Regt of Fusiliers, whose first TRF was a rough one of felt before they received a fancier machine woven one.

I have a red and blue version of the diagonal badge which came from the Royal Australian Artillery and worn as a diamond.

Re the RRF sign, I wasn't referring to a DZ flash, but to a TRF worn in the mid 1990s, 45 mm square and placed on the DPM cover of the helmet. |

Oops Sorry mate, Re: TRF /DZ.
I'm too young to have worn BD and thus seeing all Regiment's and Corps insignia on them. but old enough to have served when only Airborne Forces wore any form of Tactical Recognition device. I'm still not used to the modern Gulf practice of every man Jack having TRF's on their uniforms... |
