https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-3...53.m1438.l2649
But isn't there a little something missing at the bottom compared to mine? PeterA |

They are different badges Peter
Yours is post Boer War and the one on eBay is pre Boer War making the eBay one much more desirable Geoff |

When I say pre Boer War I mean before the end of the second Boer War ie 1901 or 1902

South Africa honour wasn’t awarded until 1905. All KC badges lacking therefore date 1902-05. Plus they were imperial Yeomanry until 1908.

This particular regiment was actually part of the Home Service Imperial Yeomanry Force and was extant, as the 3rd CLY from July 1901.

They were titled 3rd County of London Imperial Yeomanry (Sharpshooters) when formed in 1901. The title changed 3rd CLY in 1908.

Geoff
A few facts: Boer war ended in 1902 when QVC crowns were worn by the Imperial Yeomanry. The SA Battlehonour was awarded in 1905. The Imperial title was dropped in 1908. The Kings Crown Yeomanry badge design dates to after 1908 but the SA Scroll was worn from 1905. To that end the ebay badge cannot have KC, no SA scroll and be titled Yeomanry with out the Imperial. So it's been adulterated as stated. Alan Last edited by Alan O; 19-05-19 at 06:07 PM. Reason: change date |

How can it be, the new regiment did not exist until July 1901, it cannot be "pre Boer War"
