No, not even close, just some wire wrapped around a split pin.

regards

Similar badge on another site:

Description
"An unusual WW1 era wound stripe, this is strange in that it is a single bar and is of silver/white metal as opposed to the usual brass, it was suggested that this was for issue to members of the St John Ambulance when wounded on active service? "

That photo would have been most useful in the first post.

having seen it its not what I first said obviously and seems to be part of a uniform insignia but what and to whom I cannot say.

Chrome often equals police/fire brigade/prisons etc.

regards

It is actually part of the rank insignia worn either previously or currently by a senior fire officer. It is positioned below the wreath on epaulettes. I can't be specific as to the rank. The fire service, like the prisons etc. keep changing designations and ranks and I've long ceased to try to keep up.

Dave.

Default Super

Just started collecting WW2 era civilian services...Now wait for it, I also have an identical badge painted RED, initially thought it was something like a fire brigade wound badge to denote wound in previous war, as per Army, but now believe it may be an early Civil Defence rank ?
