The modern slider, the metal, the artificial ageing attempt, poor reverse detail, the rounded ToysRus lettering, line underscoring instead of dots etc.
Compare it to this genuine one. There are numerous other subtle differences. |

Just from the photographs in the original post, I would say both the material used and method of manufacture, suggest to me, at least, that it is completely spurious.

As viewed void to right corner of gauge is a bad sign.
Out of interest- I have only recently noticed a similar 'Toys Are Us' type font on some WWII plastic badges. I think it was on a Suffolk badge that I noticed the similarity. Regards, Paul. Last edited by wardog; 06-06-20 at 04:53 PM. |

It’s a fake
Unfortunately you have to know as much about what makes a badge a fake as what makes it right. That will come with time and the advice given on here.
IMOO the yellow brass metal looks poor, the toning is wrong as is the slider. |

Many thanks for the advice Gents. The quest continues to find an original! I am not an expert on this matter but am learning quite fast.
