A friend of mine contacted me yesterday to see if I knew what this badge was, and I told him what a coincidence as it had been discussed here. He then sent me a copy of a message from the seller after he had enquired about the badge which I thought others might like to see here.

He first asked if the seller could tell him what the badge was. The reply: 'This badge was in a collection that I recently sold IT WAS THE COLLECTION TO A CANADIAN AIR FORCE Mechanic and driver His name was Pearson from the Toronto area everything was in a foot locker/box and it was all air force related.'

He was a bit curious as the original lot containing the badge wasn't actually sold. The sellers reply: 'A buyer had expressed an interest in the badge so I kept it out of the lot. Because no one even a few supposed experts has been able to identify this badge is the reason for the value I have it listed for. If it doesnt sell at the price listed Ill just hold onto it and include it with the other extremely rare badge in my collection.'

So the seller is stating that the lot was sold, but because someone expressed an interest in that badge he kept it out of the lot, but then didn't sell it. My friend got a bit suspicious and thought the badge was overpriced if the seller could not identify it. His reply: 'Because of critics such as you and others on the British badge forum is the reason for such a price. I Have been buying and selling and collecting for 50 years and know your type whine and cry about the price but if in my shoes would be selling it for an even higher price you are blocked as a bidder dont bother me with your BS'.

He then promptly ended the listing! Perhaps most amusing is the fact that, for all his 50 years of collecting, buying and selling he clearly could not identify it either!

My friend hadn't heard of this forum, so I asked if I could post the details of the conversation.

Doesn't sound very sociable. This seller had about 3 or 4 sets of Essex Scottish shoulders for sale, makes you wonder whether they are legit.

Nothing wrong with the titles. They were the pattern worn from circa 1942 through 1954. From the looks of the ones being offered they are Canadian made examples.

$500.00!!!!!! What universe is he in??? So he puts a lot up for $750.00 and it doesn't sell. When one item in that lot is highlighted he says he sold the original lot but kept that one item out, and then gets stroppy and throws his toys out of the pram before removing it from sale. Then he puts it up again days later at about seven times the price? I think that puts him on the 'Money grabbing, misillusioned, and unreliable' list. I'd not buy off him if it was $10.00 as I'd not be confident of receiving it! It always makes me laugh when sellers can't I'd a badge so they assume it's super-rare and stick a ridiculous price on it. No wonder it hasn't sold.

It comes up as 'unsold' which is hardly surprising at that price. The bloke is a joke! Puts it up at $75.00, then in a strop pulls it two days later, then re lists it at $500.00 and again pulls it after two days. Bizarre!

Now $100.00.
I guess it isn't really that scarce.

Default RCAF Winged Wheel Badge ?? Police Patrol

Certainly has the same design as the Police Patrol badge but not the same colours. Could be onto something here. It seems certain from previous post that it is not RCAF.

Tanker Mike, in his earlier post, may well be right after all!
