It is not an example that I would want, it is missing a considerable part of it's white metal overlay, it might just be the photographs, but, it just seems to lack the quality that is fairly typical of these badges, whilst looking worn, which, of course, it might well have been assuming it is original.

I think it is probably original, but a horrible botch job. It was obviously never worn in service and likely a reject that somehow survived.
These were difficult badges to make and even better examples often have some minor flaws. As Frank mentioned, not a badge I would want either.

Taking stock so far:

Bad:

13th (CB, Simon, Alan)
26th (Marcus, CB)

Questionable:
14th eagle bi-metal badge (Bad: Frank, Good: CB)

Good:
7th (CB,Sapper)
8th (CB,Sapper)
11th (CB,Sapper)
15/19th (CB,Sapper)
20th (CB,Sapper)
23rd (CB, Marcus, Sapper)
All others except for 13th and 26th (CB)

Any further opinions most welcome. Thanks!

If it is original and unworn why does the damaged white metal look the way it does in the photograph, because if it were original I would think it has been very well worn?

It’s damaged too, the mace is missing on the front.

Hi Keith, Thanks for your input. Although the scepter is there, based on a pic I have seen of this badge, it should be silver as is the rest of the bird and not brass coloured as is the non-bird part. In any case this badge is going back to the seller as I do not like it and think it suspect. Cheers, Tom
