Default Medal Ribbon Private 2nd Bn Royal Fusiliers, India 1913

Hello,
please can anyone help identify the medals on this ribbon?

I’ve spent some time on this, but can’t be sure even how many medals are represented.

The soldier has 3 Good Conduct Stripes.

Captain M R K Hodgson 2nd Bn Royal Fusiliers, 1913, has a similar medal ribbon. The photograph is clearer and military record known.

On his left the King’s South Africa Medal 1902.

But neither of the other two ribbons seems to match his record:

“He was mentioned in dispatches (“London Gazette,” 29th July 1902), and received the Queen’s medal with five clasps and the King’s medal with two clasps. He also received the Indian Durbar medal.”[British Army, Bond of Sacrifice: Officers Died in the Great War 1914-1916]

The ribbon on Captain Hodgson’s right seems to match that on the Private’s right, but with two narrow dark bands in the centre, it doesn’t seem to match either the Delhi Durbar (1911) or Queen’s medal...

Unless the dark blue dye has washed or bleached out of the Delhi Durbar (1911) ribbon leaving the dark (red) stripes in the sepia photo.

Has anyone come across this?

Thanks very much.

Terry

I dont know whose photo belongs to who, but from what i can see:-

Top one = 1911 Coronation Medal ; QSA ; KSA

Bottom one = 1911 Coronation Medal ; Possibly IGS 1854 or 1896 ; QSA

regards

Default Medal ribbons

I think it more likely that the lead medals in both groups is the Delhi Durbar medal.
