Do you mean 'RAF Regiment' Ground Gunner?

It certainly looks like one in khaki. However, most mistakenly think the RAF Ground Gunner 'GG' badge is a) a cuff trade badge, and b) RAF Regiment. In fact it was worn on the right upper sleeve by members of the aerodrome Defence Corps in 1940/41. As far as I know it had been abolished by the time the RAF Regiment was formed (or at least upon its formation) and the Aerodrome Defence Corps never wore khaki.

I have several examples of the single 'G' 'Gunner (Ground)' badge in two tone blue, that was worn in the same style, and replaced by the 'GG', and have seen one in khaki. However, I have seen it in a period manual referred to a Artilley (Gun Layer I think), although the G was as above.

There is a 'GG' badge in red on tan for RAF tropical Service Dress.

kind greetings.

I have been here with a previous message on the same subject.

The STO badge I was once told to be an SJO badge.

I do not know this to be true but, I did get one of these badges in a collection identified to me as "static jump operator".

If my suspicion for this proves true by independant corroboration then I can add a little extra informaton as to where my original suspicion came from.

Ian
