Inniskilling Fusiliers
Could this somewhat crude-looking object have been an Inniskilling Fusiliers shoulder title?

I think it may be an American ( infantry ) title but I may be completely wrong

Title
I think this is Colonial, either Canadian or Australian, worn together with the other title Canada or Australia.

"Infantry" seems a highly feasible explanation. I will have to see what I can find out about United States uniforms - I think Canadian, Australian or other Commonwealth forces would have had British-style shoulder titles.

Stanley,
I think that the badge is actually WW1 Australian. Worn with the Regt. number above & title 'Australia' below, all separate items. As shown in Cox's book (page 39) The 'speckled' bars are the clue here. We see these all the time here in NZ. Colonial units did wear some titles made in UK also, but mostly locally made items, with distinct differences, as seen here.May have a couple of these lying around somewhere, will have a look. Cheers ! Steve PS: Re Ray's note.....Looks like Canadians must have used a similar style also( not shown in Cox) ?? The type of lugs may hold the key ? Is a pic possible of the back ? But definitely not US issue. Last edited by dragonz18; 02-12-08 at 09:40 PM. |

This is without doubt an Australian WW1 (and probably pre-WW1) shoulder title, worn in conjunction with a battalion number.

The "INF" badge has two conventional copper or brass alloy lugs, similar to those found on any other military badge. There are no markings or any other features on the back, which is quite smooth.
