Default Isle of Man Home Guard

It has been a good week, I have, at last, managed to get hold of an example of the gm badge worn by the Isle of Man Home Guard in WW2 ( Kipling and King 2428 and Mills and Carney fig 28).

This is a badge I have been after for some considerable time. In the WW2 phase the IOM Home Guard generally appear to have worn the cap badge of the Kings Liverpool Regiment.

Now comes the really difficult bit, trying to get hold of an IOM Home Guard arm designation . If anyone has one spare ??

P.B.

Peter,

Also worn by the Isle of Man Prison Service and one or two other uniformed Government employed groups.

Dave.

Thanks Dave ,

Rather similar situation to the small sew on Liver Birds used as arm badges on battledress by the 5th Kings ( and possibly as collar badges by some Liverpool Cadets ) which were also worn by MPTE and possibly by others as well.

Would be nice to have obtained an example from the family of a member of the IOM Home Guard giving absolute provenance but the chances of that are rather remote.

Peter

Peter,

As long as you have the badge that is the important point. The die was obviously used for many years and the badge produced in a variety of differing metals and finishes. And yes, the small sew on "Liver" badges seemed to have been worn by the world and his wife in Liverpool at one time.

Dave.
