In my opinion, the vendor is absolutely correct. There are myriad variations in collections and evidently still out there. For your information, here are a couple of others. Mike

The practice was widespread I believe, and I have seen a SEAC RAOC example but have no image
Here are other un-authorised tiles I am aware of: unfortunately I own none of them In the RAOC a soldier reporting to the regimental depot would not get past the main gate wearing anything other than the approved titles and would be place on show parade to show correct badges/titles being worn, and by the looks of it, a REME soldier would not get away with even wearing the top REME title on its own either! |
