BRITISH FRONTIER SERVICE 1946-1991
I have acquired the following badge for the FRONTIER CONTROL SERVICE(FCS) who were part of the CONTROL COMMISSION GERMANY(CCG)
The FCS were formed in 1946 and were a civilian service made up mainly from ex Navy & Marine personal thus a Naval style uniform was introduced also the first head was Navy. They had a change of name to FRONTIER INSPECTION SERVICE(FIS) in 1949 until 1955 when the name changed again to BRITISH FRONTIER SERVICE(BFS) and they were disbanded in 1991 on the unification of the two Germany's. I have the badge's for the FCS and the BFS and I am wondering if any forum member knows if a new badge was introduced in 1949 for the FIS ?? I have googled it and not come up with anything yet.

British Frontier Service
The FIS had a different emblem I have/seen on an old document but IT haven't seen a capbadge, however the BFS have not disbanded. One of there departments I think based in Dusseldorf was Customs and Immigration, so in 1992 they became C and I,. They still exist as BFG close down but with a cloth capbadge. The last BFS guys at Helmstedt joined/transferred to C and I the very lasr BFS member retired in 2012. There are only 7 C and I left serving in the MOD and no doubt they will dwidle down as Hohne etc close. They wore naval uniform as the first director was navy and their first job was clearing the harbourss to allow ships into germany. Later they controlled the borders with Denmark, France etc and were not deployed to the easr west border until the border disputes started/wall going up. They reached 300 members before 1955 when german sovereignty was returned.

Hi damurphy,
Do you have an image of their cloth badge, or a link to one, please? Thanks, Phil
