Default Reproduction Parachute Regiment cap badge

Just in case anyone is in any doubt about this pattern badge being genuine which is being sold as such by some dealers including "The Bear". Here is a dealer who is correctly advertising it as a reproduction.

This is the same pattern posted here recently which was stamped SILVER and was also a reproduction in my opinion.

As I have said previously I have seen boxes full of these for sale individually at militaria fairs being sold as genuine badges with stories of being old stock recently found for issue in post war Palestine blah blah.......

As you probably know this is a pattern produced by JR Gaunt with the 4 die flaws that everyone should be aware of, they make this pattern easily identifiable as genuine badges. This one is a nice example of an original badge.

As far as I know this pattern badge was made die cast in Hall marked silver marked JR Gaunt and silver plated marked P, (a known Gaunt mark), for officers. Die struck for other ranks in white metal as the one you have for sale, in nickel plated brass and also chromium plated. All have the D shaped lugs spaced approx. 4 to 4.5 cm apart. They all also have the same die flaws although the silver plated and HM silver examples have 3 out the 4 die flaws.
