A few "Late Arrival" Club Winged Boot badges for review
Greetings all,
Here are a few badges I recently acquired.I thought that they looked OK,but I'll let my more experienced peers be the final judge. Thanks in advance Last edited by Patchcollector; 02-11-14 at 04:38 PM. Reason: Deleted extra text |

There was an excellent article on The Late Arrivals Club in the January 2014 Issue #1 of BRITAIN AT WAR magazine.
The following link will show you the uniform of 1st Lieutenant K. Bartmam (9th USAAF and RAF) which was part of the above article. Since the club was unofficial, Americans wore their Winged Boot behind the collar. http://www.rathbonemuseum.com/USA/US...an/USBart.html |

Sergeant Harper's certificate and winged boot were also pictured in the article.

Taking into consideration how many men belonged to The Late Arrivals Club and how easily faked these badges are; I wouldn't touch one without rock solid provenance.

I found this uniform posted on the WAF forum.

Thanks for all the info and examples.I feel pretty good about the second one I posted,as I found another online that looked just like it.
The other one with the "925" on it I was more unsure about. From what I've learned, the metal badges were made by many different makers. Some were "cruder" than others, and from what I've seen, more than a few variants. |

Harpers shown above belongs to me and came direct from the owner. I supplied the illustrations for both Cate's article and the Britain at War one.

Pleasure! :-)
I have seen other original examples of the same type but with lug and split pin fastening. |

I have a cloth badge example away in secure storage. Any one have a cloth example to show?

Coast Watcher:
When you say a cloth example, do you mean a non bullion example? |

Have you seen any late war 1944-1945 dated certificates? |

I meant not metal - bullion then.
