Default Parachute Regiment Badge with a Twist

Hi Guys, I picked this up and I'm pretty sure it's a good one. There has obviously been a bit of a field modification to the lugs. The badge is nickel plating over brass, you can't see this detail in the pics because of the lighting. I looked through 20 posts on these badges and could not find an exact match so I'm hoping a specialist can give me a "thumbs up" a to real or fake.

It came with a nice chunk of shrapnel but no provenance which is too bad, if it's real, what stories it could tell.

Thanks for taking a look,

Greg

Hi Greg,

This is a genuine WW2 voided crown cap badge. I have seen the lugs replaced with a pin fixing on Parachute Regiment badges before. Some of these badges were worn on the front of the battledress, so maybe it was done to avoid making larger holes in the material, or perhaps it was just to to make it easier to remove from the beret.

See this item on ebay:

Nice one Greg, it is the same as my unplated-all brass example.
