Jonathon,

Looks to me like a modern copy by International Militaria?

Its certainly not as an original should be with loops the same material as the plate.

Thanks Simon.

If you can show me an image of your genuine one then I will go back to the original seller/auction that I bought it from over 10 years ago.

I will send it to them to sell it for me (still have the invoice/sale notice/receipt so will be in a strong position if they agree that it's not genuine and can get my money back).

Ta

Jonathan

If its 10 years ago it wont be an International Militaria one, but its very much like the ones he punts out to a variety of Regiments in a variety of different types of badges.

That leaves the other option that at some point in its later life it has been plated in nickel silver or even chrome.

regards

I couldn’t comment as to whether yours is original or not. I can only give my opinion and I’m not a fan of the unicorn in particular. Although I’ve seen a few similar Engineer Vols helmet plates with this style. Attached are images of what I would prefer to see in my own collection. One is from a Facebook post by the RE Museum. I can’t remember where I got the other from. Thanks for sharing your images. Always good to see others collections and open these things up for discussion.
