Hello Bc,
Here's a RA Militia badge missing its 'M'. Note the small perforation, whether for a pin fixing or a braze hole, I don't know. Tony.

I posted one on the forum a while ago and was told it was fake because it wasn't pinned.

I have several RE badges with the "M" over 3 reigns and they are both pinned and brazed.

Although you find GVI RE cap badges, I am not sure that RE Militia units would have existed post 1908 other than the Monmouthshires who retained the militia title.

I'm happy with this GVIR officer's militia badge with the blades folded into loops. But not so comfortable with the OR's. It may be right but my jury is out.

A EdVIIR officer's militia, also with folded blades.

It is brased on. I have no connection to the seller and will not be paying £80 for one. Last edited by Alan O; 10-08-23 at 03:17 PM. |

Re brazed or pinned, IMHO I believe both could be genuine. I wouldn't write it in stone that brazed badges are fake! Vincent Last edited by KOMalta; 10-08-23 at 03:28 PM. |

The one shown is from an old collection so likely to be genuine and has been brased on. I would look for an identical shaped M if I was buying a Gvi one. Alan |
