Hi guys,
My name is Arran and I'm from outside Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. I collect militaria from both World Wars but am starting to focus on Scottish Cap Badges. I would also like to start collecting WW1 CEF Canadain Cap Badges as well. I have attached some images and I would like it if anyone could help to determine whether these are original or fake. I believe them to be the following: (Please correct me if I am wrong) -WW1 Lethbridge Highlanders 113th CEF Cap Badge -WW2 48th Highlanders Cap Badge -WW1 Number 2 Overseas Constriction Battalion Cap Badge -Pre 1908 Black Watch 4th Volunteer Battalion Cap Badge -WW1 Highland Cyclist Battalion Cap Badge Please could you give me your opinion on there originality as I have no idea and if they are original please could you give me an estimated value. I do have more I would like to know about but I will leave it at that for now. Thanks Arran |

Hi Arran, welcome to the Forum. Your account is active and open for posts.
The 113th, 48th and No 2 Construction battalion badges all appear to be copies.

As do the 2 others.
The voiding of the crown of the Highland Cyclists is odd. The die has a flaw above the centre of where the sphinx should be that is seen on old restrikes. |

Hello Arran, welcome to the Forum, the last two badges you show are fakes unfortunately, the lugs, the poor quality of construction are just two of the bad signs , if you have a search on both these badges and you will see what I mean when looking at the real thing.

Arran, there are many respected online dealers. For instance Dead Spartan Militaria, Britton's Badges and Robin McGregor.

The classifieds on this forum are also a good place to start when looking for insignia and badges etc. You can simply start a 'wanted' thread there, and see if anyone has what you want.
