CMP Tripolitania Area presentation box
This arrived last week: veneered wooden cigarette box, bearing on the inside of the lid a silver/silver-plated plaque:
Presented to Sgt. Alan Smethurst (R.A.O.C.) by the W.O.'s & Sgts. Mess CMP H.Q. Tripolitania Area MEF 28th July 1945.
I'm guessing Sgt Smethurst was attached to the MPs as an armourer, or possibly on EOD duties in what is now western Libya. Not strictly my area of interest, but after following it for a while I made an offer and, after giving it a clean and polish will use it to display some of my Tripolitania Police insignia.
