Default OSD DLI cap badge

Gents, Im fairly happy with this DLI OSD cap badge (unless I'm told otherwise), my question is a rough date for its use? Presumably post WW1 as this would have blades and not lugs?

Opinions greatly received guys.

Bess

Looking at "Churchill's" the OSD collar badge of that design was introduced in 1902 and worn until the introduction of the current Queen's Crown.

Thanks Leigh. So the WW1 cap badges would have blades. Would the later OSD cap badge have blades still or a slider?

The general acceptance is that cap badges had blades and collars had lugs. The OSD collars were often the same size and design as the cap badges, so were likely often used as cap badges but the purists look for a badge with blades for an example of a cap badge.
Cheers,
Alex

I could not have put it better, dealers often quote badges with loops as cap badges and they may well have been worn as such, but they were never originally sold as that.

The problem with the bladed badges is that the blades tend to be brittle and break off, so I am sure collars were often used as cap badges. It seems to be way more common to find the OSD badges with missing blades.
