Unknown badge not LRDG
Hi
Anyone any ideas on this? Probably a lobster, aluminium or other very light metal, nice patina, pin back, I’ve no idea at all but it is attractive and of a decent age Thanks John |

Hi John
Interesting badge. The pin back arrangement looks Continental or maybe Middle Eastern. That empty square (top left on your pic) may have had a stone of some sort in it at some time. Turquoise is often an option... Hope this helps |

I think this is a zodiac sign, Scorpius (Scorpion): October 24–November 21.
Also, as suggested by DumDum, maybe a coloured glass gemstone is missing from the squared area, at 10 o'clock. The lightweight metal and style suggests, to me, it could be a Winterhilfwerk WHW badge. One from the many sets of charity badge sold 1941-42 to raise funds for winter clothing and supplies for the German troops fighting in Russia. Keith

Agree - continental type pin back. Similar to French types.

Thanks for your replies so far, there certainly is something missing from the ‘box’ shape.

That is not that strange, the name is Winterhilfswerk.
