It was actually manufactured in die cast metal and finished in gilt, worn upon the shoulder board and sleeve, so the badge shown in the link is completely spurious.
AdWO 4284 of November 1917 confirms the badge to be worn by RNR and RNVR officers attached to the RNAS. Quote:
