Default Button ID's and any information please

Hello Forum members,
A friend in South Africa kindly sent me a set of buttons to add to my collection.
Apart from the buttons marked with the Regiments could anyone please assist in indentification and any extra information.
I have shown makers marks but any without are unmarked.
My particular collecting theme is the second Boer War so would be gratefull for information on any from that period.
As always thank you in advance for taking the time to look and for any replies.

Regards
Paul

Hi Paul,
Nice friend you have sending such nice buttons

Not all are South African but I'll have a go at your list:

1. Cape Mounted Rifles black horn button worn by OR's on khaki jacket c. Boer war.
2 & 3. British regimental button
4. Third battalion Cape Peninsula Rifles OR's jacket button c. 1903 -1913 (these would have had a black coating)
5 & 6. Australian button - Victorian period

7 & 8. Canada Militia - Victorian period
9 & 10. Military Prison - ? UK button

11 &12. Umvoti Mounted Rifles (Natal) OR's tunic button - pre 1900
13 & 14. Border Mounted Rifles (Natal) OR's tunic button - pre 1900
15. British numbered regimental button

Default 109th Button

The 109th button is pre 1881, after this date they became a battalion of the the Leinster Regiment. And Leinster Regiment buttons would have been worn.

Hi Steven,
Thank you very much for your reply and the detailed information.
I am really pleased that some are South african Units of the period, that is a real added bonus.
Thank you once again.
