Roman numerals were commonly used to denote Artillery Brigades (today known as Regiments), and thus this badge may pertain to IV Brigade RFA (consisting of 7, 14, and 66 Batteries RFA), belonging to the Meerut Division in 1914, and was probably there in 1912 - and for a great deal longer back.
Furthermore did this badge come from the Viceroy, or did the Brigade have them made on being declared "the best turned out regiment"?
