Default Veterinary Service buttons

I don't normally collect buttons, however I stumbled across these in a shop and let my curiously get the best of me. Can someone identify how old they are? Are they fairly common or less so? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

According to their history, the Army Veterinary Service became the Army Veterinary Corps in 1903. So not in issue for very long with a GVR crest. Not sure of scarcity, however.

To add to Staffsyeoman summary....

The AVC that was formed in 1903 was an NCO corps and wore general service buttons. The Army Veterinary Service(AVS) buttons are officers service dress buttons of the period 1910 - 1918. Post 1918 the AVC became Royal AVC and buttons changed to a depiction of a horse as in the cap badge.

Prior to 1906 the AVS was known as Army Veterinary Department and had similar buttons to the AVS but with title 'Army Veterinary Department' and either VR or ERVII cyphers.

Default AVS button

Thank you both for the information. Very interesting. Can you give me your opinion on their approximate value?

All my best,
Chris
