2nd South Canterbury Regiment rear "clasp"?
Hi guys
I was hoping someone might be able to help me regarding this badge.; I have seen them with just a brazehole to the rear, but also with a "clasp" protruding through this. Did they come in both versions, and if so, what was the point of the clasp, as brazing should hold? Thanks in advance Colin

Hi Colin,
I have this badge with "clasp", with braze hole, and with no braze hole. All are maker's variations. Cheers, Tinto |

So, if I understand you correctly, you have this badge with a square braze hole, without the clasp? Is this, in your opinion, definitely a cap badge, or could it be a collar badge? Also, you mentioned in an earlier thread a reference book of NZ badges? Thanks Colin

Hi Colin
Your badge is a cap badge. Collars are the same pattern but without the bottom scroll. John |

woronora (John) is correct, it's a hat badge you have. A good reference for New Zealand Army badges is: "Badges and Insignia of the New Zealand Army" by Geoffrey P. Oldham. Cheers, Tinto |
