Default 1948 blue beret

Hello! Recently I adquired this postwar beret. It is dark blue (I read that after war, British army introduced this colour) but I thought that was in 1950 when the blue beret arrived...but this one is dated in 1948 so I assume the blue beret was born before 1950

The construction it looks really similar to wartime berets...with WD markings, vent holes and no slider pockets (you can see the holes from a badge with lugs)

So I was wondering...in 1948 all regiments wear blue berets or just a few?...wich badge it would be correct for this beret? Thanks for your usseful help!

The army's midnight blue beret was introduced in 1947 as a replacement for the khaki "cap, G.S."

I thought only army had WD markings...I read in the fabulous thread "WWII british berets traits and construction" that admiralty purchased items never had WD date stamps...so I assume Royal marine did'nt too...Maybe Army commando?

i have a Kangol 1945 RM blue/red flash beret. it has no inspection stamp. I also have another (WW2 blue/red RM beret) but Kangol stamps worn off. it also has no inspection stamp which would have been still there as they stamped on inside edge.

Regards
Irv

I have a 1945 dated commando beret also with WD stamps...but it has an Engineer badge, not a RM...maybe in later war you could see that kind of unoficial practices..

WW2 green berets were Army contract. WW2 blue/red RM berets were Navy contract. All WW2 green berets will have the inspection stamp where as the Navy contract won't.

Berets come in a variety of hues. For instance, the US military uses the colors black, maroon, and tan, with the US army wearing red berets, and the air force uses black, blue, gray, pewter gray, and maroon. Wearing a beret properly shows the armed forces’ pride in your country.
