12th and 21st Lancers

Hi all,
These were two of my early purchases, while there was no mention of authenticity on the 21st, the 12th was sold as an original, I'm not entirely convinced and would value any opinions

I got them cheap at auction before I joined the forum and have since seen the seller in question mentioned several times, not in a positive light, so i'm not too surprised.
I am however grateful to all the members who share their knowledge, I've learned a lot since joining the forum.

I think the 21L is definitely a fake, but not so sure about the 12L. Could you check under the slider for a braze hole behind the POW's plumes? and it looks like there are signs of braze holes/brazing material behind the Pennons, particularly the RH as view?

If the answer to the above is yes...... it's probably a good badge

I think from the style of slider that it is a fake I am afraid.

I would not be happy with either, however, both are very common badges and I would suggest that even these days, good basic originals can still be found for very little if enough time is spent, the 12th Lancers was a badge produced in quantity down the years, it is difficult to be sure, from the photograph, it may be original, but looking at the photos, I would still want a better example, if I were you.

Thank you all for the comments, Rob, there are no braze holes at all, so I'm consigning this one to the "not to be re entered into circulation" box next to my lugged winking motto

12th Lancers are very easy to obtain, I'm not a Cavalry collector, if I were, I would look for older examples like the attached.
