RA TF collars
Please could someone tell me if RA TF collar badges (bronze OSD to be precise) have UBIQUE on the scroll or are they supposed to be blank ?
(I'm trying to sort out some family badges) thanks |

Thank you very much Peter, that has cleared up things for me.
My great grandfather was commissioned into the Vol RA in 1901, converted to TF in 1908 and served throughout the 1st War - for much of it as a divisional artillery staff officer before being given a battery in Jan 1918. I have his collar badges which do have UBIQUE on the scroll. If the original ones had a laurel wreath - like the cap badge - then these collars must date from after September 1917. In that month, honours etc were restored to TF badges (RA, infy etc). The reference is for cap badges but I assume that the order would cover (officer's) collar badges too. So, perhaps instead of looking for a TF OSD cap badge, I only need to find a regular one (much easier I believe !) to make up the 'family set'. I found Litchfield in the BL catalogue. I see he also did one with Ray Westlake on Volunteer Artillery. I'll look them up sometime, they sound very useful. thanks again Julian |
