Can anyone identify this patch?
Hi folks. I am new to this forum and am asking for help in identifying a patch worn by my father in the early fifties.
He was a REME radar mechanic attached to a Heavy ack ack unit part of 5th AGRA in northern Germany. He worked with the drones sent out over the coast to be shot down by the gun batteries for target practice. I don't have a very good picture of the patch so will describe it best i can. It was a square cloth patch worn on his right arm under the REME shoulder titles. It appears to be a wheel (or maybe just a circle) with an arrow going through it from bottom left to top right. My father seems to recall it was blue in colour. Any help in identifying the patch would make an old man very happy! Thanks, Mark |

Rather spookily, the patch described is that of the 5th Army Group Royal Artillery (also known as 5th AGRA). The patch is a blue square on which there is a red wheel with a red arrow passing diagonally from the bottom corner to the top corner. The arrow head is worn pointing to the wearers front so on the left arm the arrow passes from bottom right to top left whilst on the right arm the arrow passes from bottom left to top right. Hope that makes sense and is of some help.
