Default Crowns on Sliders

Can anyone give me any info on this please this isn't mine and do not know yet its dimensions? I do have another badge on a longer slider same size as that of a cap badge was thinking Royal Signals or 2-piece Royal Marine Corps badge, but am guessing have seen them for sale on E-bay so any ideas would be welcome cheers billy

Billy

Not Royal Marines as that should have a lion on top of the crown, looks too big anyway.

A generic cap badge worn by uniformed staff employed by British Government Depts. at home and overseas.

I agree with Dave. In the same way that there are generic buttons which simply bear a crown you also, to a lesser extent, get similar cap badges.

They had numerous uses - UK/Colonial/Commonwealth. Unless one of these badges has some kind of provenance as to it's origins, I think it would be very difficult to assign a particular use to it.

Could it be the KC version of the MOD Security Force badge?

Currant usage is MoD Messenger and there are also smaller crowns with lugs as collar badges on blue jacket often mistaken as rank badges.

My dad wore a similar Queens Crown brass badge but with lugs on a black uniform cap and a smaller version as collars when he was the Governors Chafer in the Falklands in the mid 70's

MoD usage of the QC version probably very small compared with the other Government Depts. at home and in the British overseas territories, Foreign Office outposts etc. There are also chrome coloured AA versions.

Yes, I should have said 'One of the currant uses' as you are correct it is used for many other purposes.
