Default My RAAC Badges

Here's my Post 1960 Royal Australian Armoured Corps badge/patch collection. Mostly official issue but some unofficial ones as well.

I had to leave off some things like my 2/14th Light Horse (QMI) 2 piece band badge as the lugs were just too long (it was worn on a bandsman's white pith helmet!).

I'm still missing the barracks patches for School of Armour, 1st Armoured Regiment, 2nd Cavalry Regiment and 2/14th Light Horse (QMI).

Enjoy!

Mick

Bloody hell Mick, If I had not already lost them I would give my eye teeth for a collection like that. Fantastic. Thanks for posting them, and I am now going back to them to drool over them again.

Cheers mate,

john

Thanks guys!

I'm working on finding the missing patches - they are current issue ones so I will get them eventually.

My next challenge is to get my 1948 to 1960 collection frame nicely.

Some of the rarer ones here would be:

The Medium Tank Trials unit patch
2/14th Light Horse black plastic unofficial bush badge (only 30 or so were made)
1/15th NSW Lancers 100 year anniversary badge
Various unofficial bullion badges

The RAAC Corps badge in bullion - unofficial 1970s or 1980s or so.

The RAAC cloth badge - possibly a sports patch worn on a tracksuit.

The SOA patches - not sure about those. They are still sold in the Tank Museum shop at Puckapunyal. Maybe souvenir patches?

The 2/14 LH black patch - possibly a sports patch worn on a tracksuit.

The Second to None Patch - a 1st Armoured Regiment unofficial troop patch - 1990s. Worn on a brassard.

Barracks patches are the current issue rectangular patches at bottom of board - they have velcro on the back.

This is a good place to get them: http://colourpatch.com/shop/

I think those patches on DPCU were unofficial bush patches - worn on DPCU kepi caps. I have a good example of a SOA one a kepi cap.

Not sure about the 'B' patch.

The 3/4 CAV one is possibly again an unofficial patch worn on a brassard.

Hi Guys,

I was given this recently - an unofficial troop patch for 3 Troop, A Squadron, 2/14th QMI - worn around 1982-1985 or there abouts.

Just some more information on this patch.

The 'B' patch is an early 'B' Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment patch from the 1970s.

Some more Armoured Corps patches I picked up recently.

Worn at the School of Armour by trainees.
