Default Is it the Essex Regt?

A recent acquisition which I bought as an Essex Regt cap, however, a friend of mine suggested it may have been an Army Chaplains cap.

The Essex cap badge was fixed by the slider onto the upturned flap which I am told did occur, however, I wonder as to whether this cap was an Essex issue, the buttons are GS which is not helpful.

It has a few moth holes although not too badly eaten.

Your thoughts and ideas welcome.

Rob
