I don't know about the second Lowland Brigade badge you posted, I have never seen one with the rear as rough as that, looks home-made.

Hi Alex
The second Black brigade badge is not A/A don't know if that makes it a blackened officers? |

Unlikely as the officers ones were silver. I have never seen a black one before but its likely to be a TA piece rather than Lowland Bde. The op tours conducted by the regts 1958-68 included the Argyles in Aden who wore a/a ones when they were not wearing (improperly) their Argyles badges.

The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders wore the ‘Crucified Moose’ of the Highland Brigade and in Aden under Lt Col Colin Mitchell reverted to the A and SH regimental badge - non blackened. However, I have seen photos of soldiers with the A and SH in Aden wearing Lowland Brigade badges, they were likely to be individual attachments or reinforcements from a Lowland Brigade Battalion.

A poor quality version of a well known photo showing the A & SH and the Highland Brigade badges in wear in Aden in 1967 (Lt Col Mitchell driving the vehicle).
