Default Unknown United Nations lapel or beret badge?

A recent pick up, a United Nations lapel or beret badge.

This item is 800 marked European Silver with SG manufacturing mark has anyone any idea to purpose. Maker age etc

This badge appears to have some age the pin is intact but has no safety catch I may trade it in the future.

Regards to all

Stephen

Is it the same size as a normal UN cap badge??
If not maybe as suggested, a sweetheart or lapel badge??

Looks like it's far smaller than the beret badge.

Hi badge size is 3 cm so much smaller than enamelled modern badge, hence description as possible lapel badge or odd beret badge.

Yes possibly a sweetheart badge hadn’t thought of that but never seen a UN one before! And it has never had enamel.

thank you for your thoughts on this odd badge

Regards

Stephen

There have got to be thousands of variations on UN badges, the beret badge types in metal and cloth, cloth arm insignia, national variations of the things, mostly non official "locally" produced, they may be copies of official insignia or fantasy type
The UN is an insignia free for all, military units may impose restrictions on what's worn but organisations like the UN Police just wear what they fancy.
I've seen UN lapel badges before, in gold, silver and coloured versions but dont think I've seen a proper silver one. I bought a little proper silver UN badge for a charm bracelet in Cyprus back in the 70's and I think I saw gold ones but not sweethearts.
I'm still inclined to think a locally produced sweetheart for this one but that's just a guess.
