Default Prussian Shako?

Hi,
Would anyone know what this badge is and if it's old or a repro.

From research I have done it may be a Prussian Shako but I could be wrong and unsure of date.

Size is 9cm across.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's a plate from an Imperial German Prussian Garde Jaeger / Schutzen shako.
I can't remember when screw post fittings gave wire to lug fittings (1895?).
Also worn by certain other Garde units.

Here's one that I have, but note it's different to the one you show, the circular ribbon is arranged under/over the star points the opposite to the norm.
Consensus on a couple of forums is that this is a wartime manufacturers error. The badge does appear turned a few degrees in an illustration of the time, it could be that is the illustration the manufacturer worked from (the badge you show is upside down, by the way).

Here's one of the old illustrations showing the badge "turned" that I mentioned, there are others:

Hi Leigh,
thanks you for the replies and further information, will check through those today.

Apologies didn't realise my picture loaded upside down.

Interesting to see the offset variations and nice to see one still originally attached.
