Yes I do look forward to seeing a hall marked example. I have a WM and an unmarked silver example in my cavalry album.
Cheers Dean. Last edited by mooke07; 04-10-14 at 08:00 PM. |

Hello Tony,
At a glance I would say it is okay, it has considerable detail on the front, a little more than I would perhaps have expected, certainly from memory, at least, but, they are fairly common badges and used to turn up a great deal in South Africa years ago with the other cavalry of this period. What does the back look like? so much better than looking at the front as far as looking at original badges go, as far as I am concerned. Gentlemen,
I think it is okay, but, I'd really like to see the reverse of it. I believe there were certainly more than just a single striking of the originals made from slightly differing dies, however, you would expect quite fine detail and from the front, at least, the badge being discussed here appears to have that. |

I noticed the three little marks on the lower "gut" between the fore and hind legs, this morning, I look forward to the photograph.
A white metal badge really should be the same as any other Victorian cavalry badge in terms of numbers made, whilst I don't think the rank and file badge is rare, you will see more wrong ones than real ones. Regards Frank |

Tony
This is the best I can do with the marks.... it looks like more than one attempt to get the mark in there..?
