Default WW1 badged Sun Helmet
Latest addition to my small collection of New Zealand head wear . 10th Nelson Mounted Rifles squadron , Canterbury Mounted Rifles . Green band is unusual. Wolesley pattern, sun helmet/solar toppee.

Hello Iain,
A very handsome acquisition. I remember seeing a squashed version of this sun helmet (with a plain puggaree) with a 9th Hawkes Bay Infantry Regiment badge worn by a man at Gallipoli.

Yes it is John. A quite a few of these sun helmets got damaged on their travels or in the course of time , so a rare piece of headwear to find in NZ.
