Are these good or bad?
Hi All
Please have a look and tell me if these badges are genuine or not. Are the 18H & Buckinghamshire Batt badges OSD collars? Thanks, cheers, Alex |

They all look good to me. Let me know if you’re moving on the West Somerset Yeo.

I dont like the 18th Hussars badge, the loops appear footed?
Take a look at the rear of this one which I believe genuine. https://www.gnmilitaria.co.uk/viewphoto.php?x=1 regards

The badge in the opening post would appear to have been repaired with modern loops.

Both Geoff’s and Alex’s badges are from the same die. The reverses are also comparable with no signs to suggest it’s a lost wax casting from an original.
Note the flaw on the letter N of PENINSULA. This flaw is more pronounced on Geoff’s badge indicating Alex’s is actually the earlier strike. As Andy says the above badge appears to have replaced loops and mucked about with a bit as evident from the silver solder splattered up the back and it’s colour which I suspect is from exposure to heat affecting the finish, but I regard both as originals. |

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I did consider that the 18H badge may have been relogged at some stage.
Cheers, Alex |
