Default H.A.C. embroidered cloth badge.

This was in a small picture frame, the back of which has the legend, Honourable Artillery Company 1951 - 1953. I am not sure if this time period represents the time the original owner served or the years that the badge was worn.

It seems far too large to be a beret badge and I don't think it is a cut down blazer badge.

Can’t help with the dates but it is slightly different to mine, one must be an earlier type possibly?

Gents,

IMG_1064.jpg

The khaki beret (c.2011) worn by all ranks of the regiment with combat dress. As I am sure you will know, rank is differentiated by cap badges. The embroidered badge of the HAC crest (slightly different to yours, Simon) is worn by officers and warrant officers, whilst other ranks wear the HAC crest in silver metal.

Red and blue HAC Artillery officer's side cap, c.1970s.

Have no info/dates regarding this beret and embroidered badge, I'm afraid.

I have seen embroidered badges on HAC rugby honours caps, from the 1920s, but these were embroidered directly onto the fabric of the caps and not, as with yours, sewn onto a cloth backing. Like yours, however, they did not have the HAC motto/scroll.

Regards,

JT

Thank you gentlemen, some great photographs there. However, I do not understand why my example has no scroll.
