3/1st Gorkha's & 1st Indian Para
I'm thrashing about trying to research deployment, post 1947,of these 2 units above.

Hi,
All I know about the 3/1st is as follows; Raised in June 1917, Between 1918-19 it was in Baluchistan at Fort Sandeman and Quetta, at some point in 1919 it was involved in the Third Afghan war. 1920 it was at Quetta till March 1921 when it was disbanded. 1st Indian Para Btn was not a Gurkha unit so I have no info, That's all I have. Have you tried the Gurkha Museum at Winchester? Regards Steve

Sir, Thanks, as it was post independence ref Congo I didn't think there was much point. Apologies for not making that clear.
I find the museums hit and miss. Usually miss...I paid for research recently (guilty will remain nameless) and got 1 x A4 page I had already. I by that time had already produced a thick file on the man myself. Perhaps I'll give them a go again. Post '47 info seems hard to obtain, even in India. BEST regards.
