Default Brass 'G I' shoulder title?

Dear All, Brass s/t, or for all intents and purposes looks like one but just 2 letters G and I together and pin backed?!

Any ideas GRATEFULLY received.

Worn on epaulettes by VAD/BRCS nurses in WW2.

From "World War II Allied Nursing Services" By Martin Brayley:
