Brits wearing greatcoats, boots and gaiters (anklets).
Possibly Home Guard with the photo taken on the "stand down" church parade. Officers carrying walking sticks and no sign of rifles or respirator haversacks. 2nd December 1944 a farewell parade of the Home Guard took place. Over 4,000 members of the Home Guard were on parade, which commenced at Queen’s Park and made its way to The Borough. The salute was taken by Col. J. L. Griffiths. After the final “Dismiss” an old lady in the crowd was heard to say as she turned to go home: “Thank you Home Guard for what you have done, we’re proud of you. http://www.hinckleytimes.net/news/lo...nckley-6652754 Tim
