Default what is it ?

Can anyone identify this badge please ?

I have used a pair of collars to gauge the size ratio and the badge stands approximately 34 mm in height, even the brooch pin appears to be original !

I do not believe it is a sweetheart brooch ???

As always, thanks in advance.

Dave.

You probably won't get any answers then.

Hello Andy,

Are you saying, in your usual cryptic manner, that it has/had only one use and that was/is as a sweetheart badge ??

Dave.

Hi Dave,

I had a look around the internet, and found a few similar pieces (mostly old auctions on e-bay).

The common feature was the scroll at the bottom, and they were all listed as sweethearts. I don't know enough about them to say for sure.

Did you have a theory as well?

Cheers, Tim

To me it looks a lower end sweetheart type badge to be worn by a mother/father/girlfriend or perhaps an ex soldier.

Thanks Tim,

OK I give in, I've been beaten by two better men than I, so much for my hope beyond hope that it might be a Pagri badge lol

Incoming ebay ???

Dave.

The badge belongs to Queen Victoria's Rifles, a London based TA unit who served in the Boer War.

They only were in UK and France - no Indian or Middle East service so not a pagri. My opinion is that it's a mufti badge for wear on a lapel to show you are in the TF.

Sweethearts and as Alan says mufti come in all sizes including full badge size, so no it isn't a bit big for a sweetheart.
