Default 43rd For Opinions ?

Hi Gents,

I would like some expert opinions on this 43rd badge, good/bad etc?

This badge came in as a replacement for a different badge that I was unhappy with, I have been assured it is correct but as I have not owned an example of this badge before I would be very appreciated of any views?

Many thanks, Roy.

Why would you have any doubts about it? Are you aware of copies in circulation?

Hi Phil,

Due to lack of experience with this badge I have no opinions either way, so just looking for help and confirmation good or bad.

Also and as mentioned this badge is a replacement for one (different unit) that I was unhappy about.

This badge pictured is also supposed to be an 'officers' badge but I'm not so sure as it doesn't appear to be silver or silver plate..!

Any thoughts greatly appreciated?

Cheers, Roy.

hi roy
the badge looks ok to me but im not sure what makes it an officers badge?
im no expert on canadian badges but would have thought if there was an officers version it would be of better manufacture than this one. it could also be that the badge was worn by all ranks?

Hi Gents,

Thanks for your thoughts thus far. I'm thinking it is a good badge then, although not convinced of the claim (by the seller) that is an officer badge but then again what do I know

Any more thoughts, comments or critique welcome?

Roy.

As with the other comments, I am not sure how this is an officer's badge?
If it was an officer's pattern, I would expect to see sterling markings. The Charlton reference indicates officers' badges were sterling. Of course it is possible and likely an officer couldn't afford the sterling pattern or couldn't access one and then wore the white metal pattern.

Thanks for all your help and thoughts gents, very much appreciated.

I will be considering whether or not to return this, it may be an original item but I was promised an 'officers' badge!

Cheers, Roy.

Hi Roy,

It is a good badge, made by Tiptaft. Not an officer's badge though.

Cheers, Ian.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for that. It is going back to my contact, a good badge it may be but it was sent as an 'officers' badge in replacement for an earlier badge that was no good, so off it goes.

Thanks to all for your help.

Cheers, Roy.

Hi Mac,

Gosh that's a beauty, thanks for sharing it. You can really see the quality of your example. My disappointing example went back and was exchanged for something a little better, so all's well that ends well. So no 43rd for now in my collection.

A wonderful group you have collected Mac, well done indeed.

Cheers, Roy.
